Business Cyberbullies

Employees told Nouveau Riche International Model and Talent Management CEO Rose Rosales about the nameless slanderous comments they found about her and the company on TheDirty.com.

 

The U.S. gossip website does not vet any comments, pictures, or posts made on the site for untruths and defamation. Users hiding behind the cloak of anonymity accused the company was fraudulent and that Rosales didn’t pay her models.

 

The Internet is a huge part of the company’s identity. The website has not removed any of the posts as she had asked. She knows that when people do a Google search, they see these posts front and center, so it has a severe economic impact on her business. When a website is popular, it is harder to bury the posts.

 

Rosales can sue TheDirty.com for legal action, but that company’s resources are greater than the modeling company’s. A favorable judgment doesn’t guarantee the offending posts will be removed as the third parties are immune. So a removal notice was issued instead under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, but it is still unlikely to be successful. Her only option is to find the anonymous commenters and sue them directly.
